"Each Landing Craft carries a squad of troops for beach assaults. Upgrade the Landing Craft to carry more troops to the battle!"

Level 1-7 Level 8-14 Level 15-20 Level 21 Level 22-26

Summary

  • The Landing Craft trains troops for deployment, and acts as a rendezvous point during retreats.
  • When landed on a beach, the game places a flag at the targeted point. Assuming a Flare is not used, loaded troops will move to where the flag is before walking to the nearest building.
    • During Beta troops has their own flag color.
    • Rifleman had blue flags, Heavies had green flags, Zookas had purple flags and Warriors/Tanks had red flags. The Medic's Flag Color is unknown.
    • This was removed in an unknown update, so your troops always have blue and enemies always have red flags.
  • Each Landing Craft has a limited capacity and holds only one type of troop. Any excess space will go unused if it cannot accommodate additional units. This, in turn, determines the total loading time and cost.
    • They cannot be reinforced with additional troops during upgrades, but otherwise function normally.
    • Heroes do not take up any space in Landing Crafts, as they have their own, which allow for the deployment of only one Hero per battle.

Upgrade Differences

  • Each time the Landing Craft is upgraded, the white number on the rear of the craft increases by one (up to level 22). This number corresponds to the total troop capacity of the Landing Craft. Also, its body becomes a bit longer.
  • Initially, the Landing Craft is a platform with blue sides, a ramp, and a cabin with a flag, hatch, and light on it.
  • At level 8, the Landing Craft's hatch grows taller and changes color, the light grows longer, and the sides of the Landing Craft gain pipes that run down them.
  • At level 15, the Landing Craft is transformed into a lighter-colored hovercraft, as indicated by the black skirt protruding from the bottom and the pair of added propellers on the rear of the craft. Also the Landing Craft's hatch grows taller.
  • At level 21, the Landing Craft gains dark gray sides and reverts to a platform following the removal of the black skirts from level 15-20 Landing Crafts; however, the propellers change from being fan-shaped to resemble that of a jet. Also, the ramp gains a caution design on the end of it. The flag on the rear of the craft is also removed.
  • At level 22, the jet-like propellers turn from blue to black. The metal plates at the back become bigger, and sport caution designs on their perimeters.

Maximum Number of Troops for each Landing Craft Level

A highlighted cell means that the Landing Craft can hold one more of that column's troop than it could at its previous level. Special troops (Prototype Troops or Warship exclusive) are in italics.

Trivia

  • The troop capacity of a Landing Craft is equal to its level +4, and a Rifleman takes up one space so a Landing Craft's troop capacity is also equal to the number of Riflemen the Landing Craft can hold.
  • At levels 1-14, Landing Crafts resemble the WWII-era LCVP.
  • The level 15-20 Landing Crafts appear to be inspired by the LCACs
  • If an island has 2 landing zones and all of your Landing Craft do not fit on one of them, the remaining Landing Crafts will always be deployed in the other landing zone.
  • Apart from its level 2 upgrade, the Landing Craft's maximum level requirement is also directly dictated by the Headquarters.
  • The troops on a Landing Craft face the rear of the craft when in dock. Foot troops could easily board and then turn about-face, but mechanized units like Tanks would be reversed on so that they faced the correct direction, as they could not rotate once loaded.
  • The light indicator on the rear of the Landing Craft glows red when empty/half-full, yellow when training troops, and green when filled with troops.
  • Despite being flying units, Rocket Choppas and Heavy Choppas are still deployed with them, as with any other troop.
