"Breakthrough in the battery tech has allowed Blackguard to mount Lazor Beams on tanks. It will burn its way through enemy defenses with pinpoint precision."

Summary

  • The Lazortron MK II. is unlocked after building the Proto Troop Workshop.
  • The Lazortron has average hitpoints and and DPS at long range, with overshooting attacks that pierce its initial target, causing damage to all targets in its line of fire, including friendly units.
  • Howerver Mines, Boom Mine and Shock Mine won't be triggered in the manner of Laser Ranger on contact.
  • Each Lazortron MK II. costs 6 Gunboat Energy to deploy.

Differences compared to Lazortron

  • Lazortron did not require any training time.
  • Lazortron needs the corresponding blueprint to be used.
  • Each Lazortron costs 18 Gunboat Energy to deploy.
  • Lazortron has a slower attack rate.
  • Lazortron was able to destroy Mines.

Visual Appearance

  • The Lazortron MK II. has the same hull & turret as a Tank, except its main gun is replaced with a red projection dish, as well as a yellow battery pack on the rear of the hull. It's in-game model appears blue with a white cupola, similar to the Tank.

Offensive Strategy

  • The Lazortron MK II. can outrange the vast majority of all defenses with only a few exceptions, which is further bolstered by their piercing attacks that can even clear Mines or chip and eventually destroy defenses they are normally unable to reach. On the other hand, it has no hopes of defeating most that do outrange it, such as Boom Cannons and most Prototype Defenses, at least not without Gunboat support. Shock Launchers can even stun it, greatly reducing its DPS.
    • Lazortron MKII.s can outrange Sniper Towers and Mortars, but just barely. If too many attack at once, some might get pushed into range.
  • Lazortron MK II.s should be typically paired with Medics and Dr. Kavan, who can help to stave off damage from Rocket Launchers.
  • The lasers' friendly fire, in general, is of little to no concern. Anything that gets ahead of a Lazortron MK II. should never be used alongside it in the first place.

Defensive Strategy

  • Spread out buildings to prevent Lazortron MK II.'s attacks from sniping too many structures at once for free Gunboat Energy, and carefully arrange its counters so they cannot be easily neutralized. Boom Cannons and Shock Launchers tend to be priority targets if no Prototype Defenses are present. Various Mines are only effective when closer to shore, as the lasers can potentially snipe them too.

Trivia

  • You can have a maximum of 16 Lazortron MK II. in a complete set of fully upgraded Landing Crafts.
  • When Lazortron MK. II was introduced, they could be purchased from the Trader as part of an additional offer after the Armory is upgraded to at least level 14. Each purchase authorizes usage of the Lazortron for 1 day.
  • The lasers cannot exceed the map's boundaries.
  • The Lazortron MK II. is the only laser-based troop that does not increase its beam extension when upgraded.
