Summary

  • Protector is a prototype troop that is occasionally available for players who have an Armory level of 13 or above, and starts one level below it.
  • The Protector has low health and high speed, able to grant other friendly units with Shield Points.
    • Shield hitpoints constantly deplete over time or when they come under fire. If destroyed, any excess damage from that hit is negated.
    • Only one layer of Shield Points can be active on any troop at any given moment. If multiple Protectors target the same troop, they will merely restore any missing Shield Points instead of granting another layer. This includes other sources of Shield points, and the most recently applied one takes priority.

  • The Protector uses the exact model of a female Native.

Offensive Strategy

  • Protectors can be used like Medics in compositions with large units, specifically Tanks and Grenadiers. They have enough range to avoid the likes of Machine Guns and Flamethrowers that would normally tear through Shield points quickly. Medics can outheal many area defenses that end up hitting them (such as Rocket Launchers) while Protectors negate hits from enemy point defenses. This, however, may prove inconsistent compared to various other Gunboat abilities that can effectively remove such threats from play

Defensive Strategy

  • As with Medics, Protectors contribute no damage and rely on supporting other large units, falling quickly if they do come under fire. Various point defenses that counter them will also greatly reduce their effectiveness

Trivia

  • You can have a maximum of 40 Protectors in a complete set of fully upgraded Landing Crafts. Having this many, however, will outright eliminate most if not all of your offensive capabilities.
