Overview

SonarOps
  • Sonar Ops is a limited-time event available to all players starting at Headquarters level 6.
  • The event begins on Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, and runs for 10 days until August 23th, 2025.
  • It is accessible from the main base, located off the beach side of the island, and appears as a square area surrounded by blue buoys in each corner.
  • Unlike other Boom Beach events, Sonar Ops do not require Troops, Gunboat Abilities, or use of the main island.
  • The goal is similar to Battleship — you use depth charges to locate and destroy hidden submarines within a grid ranging from 3x3 up to 10x10.
  • Destroy Submarines Submarine Icon to earn Sonar Coins Sonar Coin, which can be exchanged in the Sonar Shop.

Sonar Ops Rules

  • Players must blindly drop Depth Charges Depth Charge to destroy submarines hidden in a sea zone ranging from 3x3 up to 10x10.
  • To obtain depth charges, players need to destroy enemy bases on the archipelago:
    • Each day, the first 5 Outpost and Mercenary battles grant 3 depth charges. After that, each battle gives 1 charge.
    • 2 Depth Charges Depth Charge can be collected from watching an ad.
    • Explosive Charges Cluster Charge can be unlocked starting from Sea Zone 6.
      • You will receive 2 Explosive Charges in each event. Once you have unlocked them, they will automatically be available at Sea Zone 1 in the next Sonar Ops event.
      • The only other way to obtain them is by purchasing offers with real money.
      • Explosive Charges affect 6 random tiles.
SonarOpsVictory
  • Submarines give Sonar Coins Sonar Coin when hit or destroyed:
    • 10 Coins when hit.
    • 50 Coins when destroyed.
  • Once all submarines in a zone are destroyed, players move on to the next marine zone.
  • Submarines vary in size (2 to 5 tiles) depending on the zone: (A submarine of size 5 cannot appear in a 4x4 grid.)

  • At the end of the event, the remaining unused charges are converted to Sonar Coin.
    • 1 Deep Charge = 5 Sonar Coin Sonar Coin.
    • 1 Explosive Charge = 30 Sonar Coin Sonar Coin.

Strategies

  • Just like the original Battleship game, having a strategy is essential — don’t just drop charges at random.
  • Start by naming the grid:
    • Use A, B, C, D... for rows.
    • Use 1, 2, 3, 4... for columns.
  • Fire at every other tile, for example: A1, C1, B2, D2, etc.
  • When a submarine is hit, target adjacent tiles.
  • For submarines of size 3 or more, continue attacking in the same direction — submarines are always straight-shaped (never diagonal or L-shaped).
  • Important: When a submarine is destroyed, all surrounding tiles (in a 1-tile radius) are revealed.
