Submarine
"The submarine can discover underwater treasures. Look for dive locations on the map, and send the submarine on missions. Upgrade the submarine for deeper dives that yield greater rewards."

Submarine
Level 1-10

General Information

  • The Submarine is an aquatic support structure similar to the Gunboat and Landing Craft.
  • It can be sent on to uncover treasure chests in specified locations marked on the map by a yellow buoy at the cost of gold. These can be discovered if the radar is level 5 or above, while up to three can be active at a time.
    • The gold cost and time scale proportionately to the depth the treasure.
      • Shallow dives can take just 6 hours and less than 100,000 gold. Longer dives can take several days and up to millions of gold.
    • If the submarine is avaliable, the buoy's flag waves in the air. Otherwise, it slumps there.
  • Each dive location has a limited amount of exploration attempts, which is always one less than the quantity of chests there. If they are used up, the buoy despawns.
    • The fewer dive locations you have on your map, the more likely a new one will appear, though all at a slow rate. The rewards and the chests are completely randomized.
    • There are a total of 16 possible dive locations. (See map below).
  • A dive can give any of the following as one of its three rewards:
  • Often, one or more of the treasure slots are marked with three question marks. They will only be uncovered when the dive ends. They will also have a chance to contain the bolded items listed above.
  • Any treasure that your Submarine brings back remains there unless collected, and in that state, any contained items can never be stolen. The submarine cannot start new expeditions in this state.
  • If the Submarine is diving, you can tap on that dive location to see what it is diving for, but you will not be able to see what other dives are available at that spot.
  • It is possible to upgrade your Submarine while it contains treasure. Simply move any building to the outside zone where it can't be placed, then tap on the Submarine.
  • It is not possible to claim treasure or send the submarine on any expedition while upgrading.

Upgrade Differences

  • At all levels, the Submarine is a bright yellow marine craft with black highlights and windows, covered with metal plates. There is a large dome glass window at the front of the craft, and a smaller one on top. There is a hatch at the top, and silver rails on both sides, with a propeller on the back. Buoyant floats are also attached at the bottom of the submarine.
    • Its appearance does not change with upgrades.
  • Each level increases the maximum depth limit by 100m.

Trivia

  • Submarine's expeditions cannot be sped up by diamonds. This is because Supercell refuses to allow power stones to be obtained via IAPs directly, with the Submarine being an example if the player purchases too many gems to instantly finish dives.
    • Ironically, it still cannot be accelerated even if the dive will not yield any power stone.
  • The yellow color of the submarine may be a reference to the Beatles' song "Yellow Submarine".
  • There's an achievement which is called Submariner that gives a total of 60 diamonds upon diving for treasure 500 times.
  • The northern part of the Archipelago is filled with Ice Islands. Dive locations in this area are highly likely to give Ice Power Stones.
