    • A full boost of Magmas? Well then, that's how committed you are to taking Gearhat down :)

Enjoy your 1.5M wood and other rewards, you definitely deserve another round of sharing this to the forums

Yep, not many of the layouts are good for me. So when a good one does come along, hey, why not have a little fun? :). Besides, I very rarely powder in general combat except perhaps my resource reward one, so I have a big stockpile.

And those resources got me a gunboat upgrade :)

    • Lately I've taken down Gearheart unboosted but I have maxed/near maxed troops so that might be kinda normal.

Your troops with the boosts take the cake. Especially since you've done Gearheart twice before even getting the Scorcher

        Loading editor
    • Surprised you would use Scorchers; the "ultimate endgame" technique that a bunch of people flaunt is smokey Zooka suicide runs. Scorcher damage output is so bad...do they really work in time?

        Loading editor
    • I was taking the Scorcher as a milestone for reaching HQ18; I do not have high-level Scorchers to make a good impact.

Otherwise known as "you've done Gearheart twice before reaching HQ18"

    • Yes, scorchers do work. A scorcher level 8 takes only around 32 days to upgrade (in comparison to about 48 days for level 15 Tanks + about 36 days for level 11 Medic or 28 days for Heavies + 37 days for Zookas + Medics) and it can still sit on LC 17 whereas you need LC 20 for Heavies, Tanks, or Grenadiers to make a big difference. I just sent 7 level 7 scorchers (my 8-th LC is level 15) and they burned Volcano Terror 6 to the ground with no boost and no losses. I would not be able to take it down without boost with my level 19/18/6 HZM (22/29/4 troops).

And yes, I still do not think that scorchers are useful against WF.

Oh I know Scorchers can work against small bases (players, resource, Terror)...it's just higher level Ops and Gearheart that I think they would suck against.

Sorry, when I first saw your post I had already lost all of the attack history. But I'll make sure to get a more elaborate set of photos for the next one I drop.

    • It is very easy today. Some people did it with just one Zooka attack without boost: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffvcC4MV2P4. I am not that good, so I cleared it in 3 with Hooka and no boost.

That's an endgame max-tech guy doing it. Interesting though, never thought to use critters to distract the rocket salvo, I didn't think they would last long enough. I actually put two stuns into them which is why I had to take out one stunpoint (lasers and mortars) first. And he's pretty lucky that one of the zookas didn't slip outside the smoke. Still, good attack.

    • This list is now being closed. Since I have now reached HQ 20 and corresponding tech Gearheart kills are no longer noteworthy. I will continue to update the guides as I can.

    • Congratulations! So, now the real fun begins! I wonder if you will stay with your statue composition or adjust it as you move up in the VPs. I had to sacrifice TD for the sake of extra GBE once I went past 600 VPs about three months ago. So, now I have 4 GBE for the total of 87% and that is fairly comfortable to do a smokey hooka on a reasonably iced XP 63 base (4-5 ice, no boost) with two strong attacking protos (DC, SB). It was pretty challenging with 3 GBE and my skills are not sharp enough to do that with just 2 GBE and without boost. My warriors are too weak for most of the attacks but it was a real fun when I recenlty took down XP 59 base with 2 DC 3 using my level 10 warriors.

    • Personally I've never found myself to have a problem destroying anyone I want for whoever shows up. They're always above my level, but smokey hooka is so lethal in so many situations and player bases are so small that what I have is just fine; GBE only gets you so far, and I prefer my troops to be horrific nightmares once the smoke drops. I honestly can't remember the last time I failed an attack on a player base...

I may, however, revise my plan to try and go 100% unboosted damage, my heavies are wearing out a bit too fast. I will probably make my final statue TH.

    • Have you encountered spread out 4-6 iced XP 62-63 bases with HQ at the back, no shield but two other protos, and any of RLs/SLs/protos close to the beach? They cannot be taken down with brute force attack and they do take a lot of smokes to get the troops (hooka or warriors) to the attack point near HQ. For hooka you often need to clear the building(s) near that point and then you need 2-3 shocks and/or critters. To do that with just two GBE requires great skills (which I do not have).

    • Not a 60+ base yet, but put up a screenshot of one of those, I want to take a peek :)

    • On that one I would have gunboated out the two more northern rockets, landed and moved hard left up the wall then drive down stunning cannons and the doom as I go.

        Loading editor
    • This looks possible. Though I would not dare to go against DC, which cuts from the side and DA, which makes a sniper tower look almost like normal BC, while BCs and cannons one shoot the Heavies. Taking down two RLs on a base like that is 2 barrages and 4 artilleries. You may just run out of shocks without boost.

Here are a few examples of taking down boosted ice bases with the shield: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kdRwzoEWTg .

    • Decent attack, and it all varies, you adapt to every layout. Also remember that I have a much higher base damage boost than you do, if the three pics you posted above were yours, so my zookas can take a much stronger advantage of those shocks and punch through more stuff in those 10 seconds.
