Inspired by the show MythBusters, I decided that why not test some in-game myths as well? I'll publish the results here.
Myth 1: Overall Resource Base production will slow down because the lower-leveled collectors will fill up
To be tested.
Hypothesis: the level 2 collectors will fill up quickly, so I can test this easily. Basically I will check the total production after 1 hour and after 8 hours, because the level 2 collectors in RBs fill up in a little under 7 hours, if it fills and stops producing we should see the resources we get after 8 hours be slightly less than 8x than that of resources gained from RBs in 1 hour.

Level 3 collectors fill in: 9 hours 43 minutes 20 seconds
Time that level 3 collector isn't filling up after 12 hours: 2 hours 16 minutes 40 seconds
Production per hour of 2 level 3 collectors = 720
Resources lost by not collecting level 3 collectors after 12 hours: ~1640
Total Resources lost by not collecting after 8 hours = ~460
Total Resources lost by not collecting after 12 hours = ~3780
Theoretical amount after 8 hours = 67,860
